Challenge Yourself

Someone wiser than me once said '21 days makes a habit'. I have put that theory to the test multiple times in my life. For example: I started eating Nutella sandwiches again; it all began when I saw the two jumbo containers on sale at Costco for $5. I became nostalgic for my childhood visits to my Tia Florencia’s house. I used to think my Tia and Tio were rich... not only did they have TWO living rooms, albeit one was only allowed to be seen, not sat in, but she also had SPREADABLE CHOCOLATE!! My point is, I started eating the hazelnut deliciousness on sliced white bread every evening like it was dessert. I did this for weeks and when I decided that weighing 204lbs was unbelievable and totally unrelated to my obsession with sugary treats; quitting Nutella seemed like the end of the world because I had made it a HABIT. Fast forward 4 weeks sans Nutella and now I have successfully made new habits; eating low-carb, no sugar or sweets (except for my coffee which is down to one spoonful; thank you very much) and working out 2-3 times a week. As of this morning, the scale read 191.2lbs and I'm still going strong. It’s a far cry from my weight around this time last year (173lbs) but it’s a step in a healthier direction. My new found love of all things fitness has inspire this WORKOUT POST (funny how it only took 3 years of running an exercise equipment sales and service business to gain this kind of focus). I have formulated a few questions with answers that have corresponding actions. It won’t be nearly as exciting if all you do is sit there and read it. Sooooo I’d like you to commit or quit – it's your choice but I hope you have the ambition to literally stand up and challenge yourself.


What is your favorite holiday?

a) Christmas – 5 Crunches

b) Thanksgiving – 10 Crunches

c) Easter – 15 Crunches

d) Halloween – 20 Crunches

e) None of the above - 25 Crunches


How many of your plans have been ruined thanks to COVID-19?

a) At least 10 events – 5 Jumping Jacks

b) 10 -15 gatherings but who’s counting – 10 Jumping Jacks

c) Is this a trick question? – 15 Jumping Jacks

d) None... What is this COVID-19 you speak of? – 20 Jumping Jacks


How many siblings do you have?

a) 4 or more, it's hard to know for sure – 5 Push-Ups

b) 2-3, lucky me – 10 Push-Ups

c) 1, we are best friends and enemies – 15 Push-Ups

d) None, my parents hit the jackpot with me – 20 Push-Ups


Which Soap Opera have you or do you follow?

Thoughts on the Vaccine?

a) I was apprehensive about it but I still got the shot(s) – 5 High Knees per leg

b) I’m going to wait and educate myself a bit more, not quite ready – 10 High Knees per leg

c) I’d rather get the virus than take the vaccine, I believe in natural immunity – 15 High Knees per leg

d) On principal, I refuse to get it and nothing will change my mind – 20 High Knees per leg

Which chore do you dread doing and most often make excuses to avoid?

a) Windows and Blinds – 5 Butt Kickers per leg

b) Laundry (washing AND putting away) – 10 Butt Kickers per leg

c) Dishes (by hand or loading/unloading the dishwasher) – 15 Butt Kickers per leg

d) Grocery Shopping (including unpacking/putting things away) – 20 Butt Kickers per leg

e) I have a maid and I get my groceries delivered, then my maid put’s it all away – 100 Butt Kickers per leg


What kind of music do you listen to when no one else is listening?

How annoyed are you with me at this very moment?

YAY! We did it! Good workout everyone! Just so you all know, I completed the challenge with you and I definitely cheated because I made sure my answer was always a) 😋
