Day 34: no sense of smell and still tired

I didn't realize that my sense of smell was gone until I went back to work and Kevin pointed out the strong scent of the Cinnabon Coffee I was making; I couldn't smell it AT ALL. I was hoping I would be back to my usual self by now but that is not the case. If I had to give my recovery a percentage I would say I am roughly 97.8% recovered (1.2% for being smell-less and 1% for being tired). By the end of each day, whether I went to work or just relaxed at home, I feel completely wiped out. To be completely honest, that is why I haven't updated my blog; I usually write at night or first thing in the morning but I have been so drained of energy. As I am typing my eyelids feel heavy. I felt I owed it to everyone to let you know that I am doing well. I am a COVID survivor and pray that I never get it again. I can't speak for others that may have or have had the illness, but I believe I had a mild case and yet I am still not fully recovered. Many people have shared their experiences with me or have told me stories about the family and friends they know who have been sick. One guy told me that his wife didn't get her smell back for over 100 days! I prefer to look on the bright side of this so before I go to bed I would like to share with you the positive instances when I have been grateful for my malfunctioning schnozze:

  • After Zeus/Kevin cuts the cheese (that's a fancy way to say 'fart')

  • Changing a baby's poopy diaper (OG - I got you babe!)

  • Driving through Georgetown (they have a papermill)

  • Going to the bathroom after Kevin empties his bowels (I love you honey, but you stink)

  • Driving past/over skunk roadkill (used to make me gag)

  • Dealing with customers that wear too much cologne or perfume (I still get the headache but none of the aroma)

The list goes on but those are the one's I have been thankful for thus far.

Let's just hope my nostrils working soon because at this point I have no idea if I have burnt my pot roast until the fire alarm goes off and I can't tell if my deodorant stop's doing its job throughout the day.
