I am on Season 3 of Married At First Sight and even though Kevin isn’t watching it with me, he still catches a scene or two and his only comment is, "thank you so much for being you, I love you”🥰. I return the sentiment and I sit in awe of our connection. One of the things that the experts say often on the show is, 'you don't fall in love, you grow in love'. It makes complete sense because we all change, learn and grow, so the person we are at the beginning of a relationship isn't necessarily the person we are over time. This November will mark 10 years since our first date and as the years pile up, I truly believe what we have is precious and rare. Marriage is a choice, saying 'I Do' makes a difference. It’s me telling the world, I choose my spouse everyday, no matter what. The foundation of that commitment gives us the freedom to become the man/woman we are meant to be; with the confidence that our partner will be there with love and support. I also believe that love isn't always enough; without trust and respect a marriage can not survive. When you hear people say 'looks fade', they aren't lying. I have more forehead wrinkles than I want to admit, more stretch marks and cellulite than ever before and for some reason I still have acne (IN MY 30's😡). Considering how much my physical appearance has changed in 10 years, I can only imagine the next few decades. Another special quality of a good marriage is acceptance, like how I accept the fact that Kevin is aging gracefully. Other than some salt and pepper in his beard and on his head, he looks exactly the same, if not better. Every night we go to bed looking forward to snuggling, I often compare it to synchronized swimming because we move together, always attached 😂. Every morning we wake up, ready to tackle the day ahead, together. The level of compromise alone, makes me appreciate him that much more; every evening he relaxes on the couch, hands me the remote control. He never complains about me watching ridiculous reality TV - if that's not true love, I don't know what is 🖤
