Unpleasantly Plump (aka UP) week 17

☝🏻 That one was for you, Sandra 😂
I had a lot less to eat this week. Not planned and not on purpose due to a massive canker (I had to look up how to spell that) sore. It is so painful! I have to alter the way I speak to avoid the infected area rubbing against my back molars which makes me yawn A LOT (four to six voicemails have been ridiculously recorded with my slurred speech and deep awkward inhales). Any food that crumbles (like crackers) or vinegary/acidic type things (like salad dressing) are the worst, if you've had these sores before, you know what I'm talking about. Thanks to the inability to eat, I am down 3.8lbs this week (206.2lbs on the scale this morning). It's that blessing in (disgusting) disguise; getting an oozing sore in your mouth to kick off the weight loss. I'm not going to feel guilty about this because I know plenty of people who say the same thing when they get the flu or a bad stomach bug (you know who you are) it helps get the ball rolling so I'm just turning a negative into a positive🌺.
This week was much better than last week, I am/was more focused and determined even when things didn't go my way, I held it together. Today, however, has been... interesting. Kevin left to go to the shop (after he helped me with some house work - such a turn-on) and I was left with laundry, cleaning the spare bathroom, washing the floors and grocery shopping. After changing the sheets on all the beds, putting the load of laundry in the dryer and as I waited for the floors to dry, I sat down to write this blog post but I got distracted. I started with scrolling through Instagram and got bored, then to my Fitbit challenges which I never win because I can't compete with the people who do 25,000 steps in a day (I swear their dog is wearing the watch), and then Facebook happened. Facebook is evil, the ads and my personal algorithm leave me with waaayyyy too many cake-decorating videos, dad-and-daughter-hip-hop-dance videos, cute-animals-doing-funny-things videos and the kicker this afternoon, weight loss how-to apps. I'm not going to build it up any longer, I did it, I watched the 45 minute video of a good looking young man tell me about his mom being over weight and he made a promise to help her and other women with their unsuccessful yo-yo dieting and hours on the treadmill with no results. Not only did I join, I fell for every add-on they hit me with. I write this with hope and shame in equal measure. I want it to work, I want to make these changes and now I sound like one of their ads. Just know, I do not plan to admit which gimmick got me sucked in today, I refuse to do that unless it works. No one is paying me to share this stuff and I know my level of commitment (I ate 2 mini Bundt cakes while watching the introduction video). I completed my first 20minute workout right after signing up and my legs are so sore (already!). This has always been an uphill battle, hence the blog currently at 17 weeks with worse than zero results (I think week one I was 204lbs and I'm 2lbs heavier today than I was then). Onward and UPward, I always say (starting now).
Side note: I like to google 'Bernese Mountain Dog puppies', just to see their cute faces and it really brings me back to Zeus' puppy days. I often find one or two that I show Kev and then daydream about getting one. It's a short lived discussion because neither one of us wants a second dog BUT this past week we found the funniest little guy, whose personality shined through the profile pic. His name is Joey (coincidently my brothers name), he is from Ohio and he is moderately cock-eyed 😂. Kevin and I loved the photo so much we both saved it to our phones. We also sent it to a few friends and family, including our son Josh who chuckled until he zoomed in on the picture and said, 'is he peeing?' 😂😂😂😂😂 That's when tears poured down my face, I couldn't even talk, I had to show Kevin (and Ed and Andrea, because we were at their house for dinner when I exploded in laughter). I decided to message the breeder and just SEE if Joey has been adopted. Whatever that answer was, would dictate whether I have some explaining to do. The breeder messaged me back right away and said 'Joey is no longer available but his brother James is'. I said thank you but James is no Joey. All we have now is this photo... Happy Sunday everyone.

Nice Post Melissa! Got your blog from fitbit.
